Finding a Church

Finding a local church isn't an easy business. Here are just a few thoughts to help you as you make your decision.

Firstly finding a church is important. The local church is vital for getting good discipleship, for getting the wisdom and diversity that only a local church can give. We believe the Christian Union is the mission arm of the local church that targets the University of Southampton.

Churches differ greatly in style, timings etc... but a good church will have the gospel at its core. Why not listen out, is something of sin and the cross present in each service?

Do take advice on churches from both students and any other contacts you have in Southampton.

Don't spend a year looking around churches. A reasonable time frame would be to spend the first term visiting churches with a view to narrowing it down to a couple so that in the second term you can settle at one. Most people only have 3 years at Southampton if you spend a year deciding you can miss out for a third of your time.

Don't expect a church to be perfect. If there's something that is stopping you going to a particular church talk to them about it and maybe you might even be able to change it.
