Churches

It's really important that we are all involved in a local church, as the CU itself isn't a church! If you're not yet in a church we'd suggest going to a few that seem like churches you would want to get involved in, but make sure that you settle in a church quickly, and get involved in service and fellowship at your church. Check out the link to the right for a few tips on finding a church. This is also really helpful!

Once you are settled, you may want to find a mentor at your church.  Go to the church mentors page for more information, and a list of contacts.

Southampton  is blessed with many churches, and to present you with a list of 40+ churches would just be a bit mind blowing! To make it a bit easier for you we have set out the list of the churches which currently have the most student involvement*, and the other Southampton churches can be found on the Southampton Christian Network's website.

Highfield Church

Highfield Church

Welcome to Southampton!  Highfield Church is (unsurprisingly) just down the road from the Highfield Campus, just follow the spire.

Highfield is a large and diverse evangelical, Anglican church with a lot happening, offering a variety of different style services on Sundays.

Compass (9:30am) – Compass is an informal service where we aim to discover what being followers of Jesus means in real life.

Compass services last about an hour and there are children's groups for ages 0-14.

Highfield at eleven (11am) – Our style of worship at 11am is more liturgical and alternates between Morning Prayer and Holy Communion.

The 11am services last about an hour. There is also a robed choir (maybe you'd like to join)

6.30pm Service– In the 6.30pm service we come together to worship God in a less formal setting with vibrant sung worship, passionate corporate prayer,

and incisive and relevant Biblical teaching. There is the opportunity to receive prayer for any need and our vision for this congregation is to see God transforming lives.

We have coffee and cake served before and after the service.

On Wednesdays at 5pm we have our student event called 'Midweek Student Gathering' in the church centre. This is a relaxed, cafe style gathering where our aim is to worship God and meet in His presence,

to be taught from the bible about how to live as Jesus would, day to day, doing the things he did.  There will be a cheap but good meal. We're really excited about what God is doing with this, do come and join the adventure.

Most students find their home at Highfield in the 6:30pm service but some also come to Compass at 9:30am and get involved with

children's groups too, and a few to Highfield at eleven (11am).  You are most welcome to everything.

And there is worship, children's work, youth work, student team, home groups (quite a number of students enjoy being part of our home groups),

alpha and short term mission trips and so much more to get stuck into.
