Our dream is to have the Christian Union filled with people that are desperately in love with Jesus, working together in little groups using common gifts and talents to share him with others. Were not saying “we need to set up all of these teams”, but rather that we want CU to be about your ideas, your gifts, your passion. Some of these teams aren’t meant to be, but that doesn’t matter. These are just ideas. Were not all great orators or theologians, but God has given us all gifts that he wants to use for his glory. So this is about getting together with people with similar gifts, passion and vision and just seeing what God wants to do with you! Let’s make CU more than just a bit of Friday night fun! • Apologetics

• Apologetics is “The branch of theology which deals with the defensive facts and proofs of Christianity”.

• This team could be involved in researching and responding to common questions that sceptics face. This may involve producing evangelistic literature (leaflets etc), responding to questions, grill a Christian events and equipping the CU with the answers.

• Testimonies

• One of the most powerful ways to share the good news about Jesus is to just share with other people what God has done in your life.

• This team is involved in practicing how to deliver testimonies (e.g. which bits to say, which bits not too) so that were prepared to share privately and publicly.

• Evangelistic Preaching

• Preaching is one of the most common ways to share the good news. This team is all about dreaming up new and creative ways to tell people about what Jesus has done, and about being trained how to speak about it.

• This isn’t really designed for Unite speaking, but rather for short talks in events, lunch bars, pubs, Speakers corner etc…

• Power and Prophetic Evangelism

• Jesus didn’t just come along with words, he proclaimed and demonstrated the gospel of the Kingdom, and we are called to do the same. This team is really all about developing in the supernatural gifts of the Spirit in the meeting place, and putting ourselves out there to be used by God in the market place; offering to pray for people and see what God does! This could involve asking God what he wants to say to somebody (like the woman at the well John 4), or praying for healing etc…

• Cold Contact Evangelism

• We are all called to be witnessing to our friends, but what about those people that don’t know any Christians!? This team is all about going out onto campus with a Bible (and maybe a questionnaire) and talking to people about Jesus; presenting them with the challenge of his life and message. It doesn’t have to be cold though!

• Drama

• Got a passion for acting? If yes, then this team is for you! Last year we acted out the gospel of Mark during mission, and it was awesome. Got more ideas? Join up!

• International Café

• We have an amazing opportunity at University to meet people from right across the globe. Loads of people come to University from countries where they may not even be allowed to worship Jesus. Throughout the year we run a whole host of events, most notably International Café on a Monday night, specifically for international students, building up friendships and sharing Jesus with them. If you have a heart for the world, then this team is for you!

• Serving the Uni

• This team is for people who really want to share the love of Christ in a practical way, by getting involved in the university and just offering to help. It’s all about washing feet; serving like Jesus did!

• Creativity

• If you’re an artist, musician, photographer, writer, poet, or just have some randomly creative gift that you’re just itching to use for God’s glory, this teams for you!

• Prayer Ministry

• God heals! He heals physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s often so easy to think that God’s not interested, or think of prayer as a last resort, when actually, it should be our first resort! This team is all about offering prayer to people in Unite meetings and other events. Sometimes we think we can just manage on our own, but God loves to use other people to bring healing. So if you love to pray, and to bless others, then this team is for you!

• Intercessory Prayer

• Prayer is the key. Every event we put on, conversation we have, and talk we do is absolutely useless without God. This team is all about storming the gates of heaven in intercession for people and events, and particularly prayer meetings during events.

• Welcome Team

• We get a wide range of people that randomly drop in at Unite meetings, and we really need people who will be a friendly face and let them in to the EEE building, as well as people who will spot the face that you haven’t seen before, or the person on their own, and go and show then the love of Christ.

• Publicity

• It’s all well and good arranging a talk from an amazing speaker, but if nobody knows about it, it’s not going to be any good. This team is about think up and putting into practice weird and wacky (As well as normal) ways of publicising the CU, our events, and more than anything just Jesus! So if you’ve got ideas or a way with Photoshop sign up!

• Catering

• Everybody needs food, and a Christian event without food is like a wingless pigeon; it just won’t fly! So if you love preparing menus, cooking and generally having fun in industrial kitchens then this team is for you!

• Worship leading

• Worship is the expression of a heart of love. It is the bow of a heart. We were made to love and bring honour to God; it’s the meaning of life. We were made to worship God in love and obedience, in adoration and sacrifice, in joy and in service throughout our whole lives. It was Jesus’ perfect worship on the cross which sets us free and it is this all encompassing worship that will turn the world back the right way up.

• This team is about being involved in one particular expression of our worship to God, in the “congregation gathered”. We value spending time to directly express our hearts to God through song and dance in Unite meetings, as we seek to change and learn to worship God throughout the rest of our lives. If you really love Jesus, have some musical ability and have a heart to see others freed to express their hearts to our awesome God, then this team is for you.

• Planning Events

• If you don’t plan, you plan to fail. If you think you might have a smattering of the gift of administration, or you just like being involved in planning events, then this team is for you! You might get involved in planning some of the evangelistic events we do each year, coordinating the other teams, and keeping some sort of record of what works well and what doesn’t!

• Web Team

• We have a website at www.sucu.org.uk! It doesn’t run itself. If you are one of the amazing group of people affectionately known as “techies” and would like to get involved developing and maintaining the website, please sign up!

• Sound team

• Unite would be very quiet, if not silent without this team. If you have any experience with sound equipment, or would like to learn, please sign up!

• Storage

• We used to have a cupboard at Boldrewood where we stored the CU’s sound equipment, evangelistic materials, books etc… It’s now been knocked down. So if you have a lockable garage, or spare cupboard and wouldn’t mind looking after some stuff, please sign up!

• Transport

• Once we’ve stored it we need to move the stuff. If you have a car and wouldn’t mind being on a rota for getting stuff to Unite, or Jam night please sign up!

• Bookstall

• After Unites on a Friday night we have a bookstall selling discounted books relevant to CU and (and library) to provide as a resource. We really need people to volunteer to help man the stall, and occasionally negotiate with Wesley Owen and IVP.
