Apologetics
Welcome to the Apologetics section of the C U website!
Apologetics is the defence and communication of the Christian faith but why is it important? Well it’s what Simon Peter was on about when he wrote:
“Always be prepared to give the reason for the hope that you have” 1 Peter 3 vs 15
Engaging with questions about Christianity and truly realising the reason for the hope that we have will help us to effectively present the truth of the Christian faith to our friends and the University Campus.
The Christian Union Believes that apologetics isn't something that is reserved just for academics to try and win irrelevant arguments over, far more it is normal people learning how to get their friends to think twice about what they believe, and showing them how much sense the Christian faith makes. It is your everyday Christian on campus showing their friends that they aren't brainwashed, stupid or ignoring the facts when they say that they believe in Jesus.
This section of the website contains some resources to help you do this. We will update periodically so please keep checking this section!
Please check the "Tough Questions" Section on the right for answers from the apologetics team to questions you have asked!
Web Resources:
This is a list of useful weblinks to debates, resource websites, and articles that we hope will help you answer your friends questions and engage with culture. We will keep a couple of popular links here but the main list will be in the Web links section found on the menu on the right. Please visit for a big list of helpful websites that will help you engage with culture and understand difficult questions.
Bethinking.org: This is UCCF's main apologetics website, it's got loads of brilliant resources designed specifically for students to help them evangelise to their friends.
Fixed-point.org: The Fixed Point Foundation funds debates between very well respected speakers, often on the topic of religion. We would suggest that you use this resource to understand the issues raised in the debates and learn more about the objections people have to the Christian faith. It probably isn't a good idea to use these debates to aggressively attack your non-christian friend's beliefs! Remember we're trying to win hearts not arguments.
Dawkins-Lennox Debate: Fixed Point sponsored a debate on the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins between him and the Christian philosopher and mathematician John Lennox, the entire debate can be found here.
Obiously we can't be held responsible for the content of these websites.
