Church Directory
We think it is really important that you get involved in a local church. All of these churches are worth trying. We'd suggest going to to a few that seem like churches you would want to get involved in, but make sure that you settle in a church quickly, and get involved in service and fellowship at your church.
Once you are settled, you may want to find a mentor at your church. Go to the mentoring page for more information, and a list of contacts.
New Community Church
New Community, Southampton is located near the centre of town (over the road from Debenhams) and although quite a distance from the University Campus, it is easily accessible by bike or bus.
New Community is a large charismatic church, with approximately 1000 people involved across the different congregations. It has many strong links with churches around the UK and other parts of the world, and also works together with other churches in the city.
From January 7th, 2007, through to the summer New Community will be gathering as a whole church community on Sunday evenings from 7pm at Central Hall. It will be an opportunity for us to worship, pray, explore the Scriptures and discover together how we can be all that God has called us to be. We will also use the time to hear about all the things God is already doing across our community and learn how we can best serve the various initiatives we currently support.
Many of the leadership team are ex-students from Southampton University, so students are always welcome and encouraged to become part of the church body. There are many projects and areas of church life to get involved with, and there are also various different cells for students to join.
We look forward to meeting you!
