Church Directory
We think it is really important that you get involved in a local church. All of these churches are worth trying. We'd suggest going to to a few that seem like churches you would want to get involved in, but make sure that you settle in a church quickly, and get involved in service and fellowship at your church.
Once you are settled, you may want to find a mentor at your church. Go to the mentoring page for more information, and a list of contacts.
Spring Road Evangelical Church
Spring Road Evangelical Church
Spring Road Church has been in existence and witnessing to the local area for 85 years. Our congregation, of about 120, is made up of people from Sholing, Woolston, Bitterne, Hedge End and other parts of Southampton. We have a wide cross section of backgrounds and ages including young people, families, children, teenagers and older people too.
We meet each Sunday, the Lord's day, for worship and fellowship at 11:00am and 6:30pm. Our simple service is comprised of the singing of hymns, prayer, readings and preaching from the Bible.
Outside the church is a noticeboard which states, "God speaks to us from the Bible." And if you come to our church, you will realise that the Bible has a central place in our life and worship (2Tim. 3:16). We believe it is God's infallible word and everything we do must be based on Scripture. You will also hear God's word carefully expounded week-by-week, equipping you for the Christian warfare. At the moment we are going through the book of Exodus and following a series on the life of Christ's mother, Mary.
We believe there is only one way of salvation - through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). We seek to do all we can to take this wonderful message of peace with God and the forgiveness of sins, to all that are in our locality. We encourage students who regularly worship with us, to involve themselves in supporting our wide range of outreach work in the local area, during the week or at the weekend.
At our church you will meet with a group of God's people who love God's Word and meet together with a concern to encourage each other, and see each other grow in their love for Christ. You will be made to feel very welcome and we would be pleased to offer you a lift, if you need one, and also offer you Sunday lunch and tea. Other students are enjoying fellowship with us and with our popular young people's group.
Our church bookshop is just up the road and stocks a good range of Christian books. The shop is an outreach to the locality, but it is also a means of contacting and encouraging Christians both at home and abroad. We offer a discount to students who purchase books from the shop.
